Baby Storytime

It was another fun and silly morning this morning.  After our welcome songs and rhymes, we read...

Maggie and Michael Get Dressed by Denise Fleming which is a very good example of our Early Literacy Tip:

Children learn best when what they are learning relates to them! Consider choosing books about daily activities that are familiar to your child.

We then learned the baby sign for diaper and shared these songs and rhymes:

The Hat Song from Jbrary
Tune: This Old Man

On my head, I wear my hat
It is such a silly hat
That my head wiggle waggles to and fro
Where else can my silly hat go?

Place hat on elbow, knee, etc. and repeat

Head and Shoulders Baby
from Storytime Secrets

Head and shoulders baby, 123
Head and shoulders baby, 123
Head and shoulders
Head and shoulders
Head and shoulders baby, 123

Knees and ankles...
Tummy and back...
Shake 'em all...

Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone

Next we read....

What Do You Wear? by Taro Gomi

...and shared these silly ones:

I Saw A Snake Go By Today
from Jbrary

I saw a snake go by today
Riding in his Chevrolet
He was long
And he was thin
And he didn’t have a chin
He had no chin, but what the heck
He had lots and lots of neck

Bubble, Bubble, Pop! from Jbrary

One little red fish
Swimming in the water,
Swimming in the water,
Swimming in the water.
One little red fish
Swimming in the water,
Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble...POP!

Repeat with two blue fish, three green fish, four orange fish

Some puppet friends joined us this song:

When Jungle Animals Get Up in the Morning!
Tune: For He's a Jolly Good Fellow

When snake gets up in the morning (x3)
She always says, "Hiss-hiss!“ (x3)
When snake gets up in the morning, (x3)
She always says, "Hiss-hiss!"

When monkey gets up in the morning.... He always says, "Eee!Eee!"
When elephant gets up in the morning.... He always goes: Stomp-stomp!
When lion gets up in the morning.... He always says, "ROOOAAAR!"

We finished with shakers and said our goodbyes.  See you next week!  Also, if you're free tomorrow, come by our Baby Signs program at 12:30.  We had a great group last week and learned a lot!
