Winter Reading Begins!

Max the Meerkat
Hiya book buddies! Our Winter Reading Challenge is off to a fantastic start! Have you grabbed a Reading Bingo Card yet? You can get one at the Library or online! No special registration necessary, just get yourself a Bingo card and start reading!

Here are some of the Bingo challenges I've accepted:

Read a story about winter: my pick was The Mitten by Jan Brett

Reader's Choice: I chose No Fits, Nilson! by Zachariah O'Hara - one of my favorite picture books of the year!

Read a book by an author whose last name begins with "S": I picked Chicken Soup with Rice by Maurice Sendak!

Read a book in a series: How about Scaredy Squirrel Prepares for Christmas by Melanie Watt? I love Scaredy Squirrel!

Hey! I've got a BINGO!

Come in for a Bingo Card and add your name to a mitten to display in our window!

Introducing the Winter Reading Program

Max the Meerkat
My dear book buddies! We're pleased to announce the first ever Winter Reading Program at the Library starting December 14th through January 31st! We have reading challenges for Pre-Readers and children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Celebrate reading this winter and earn some cool prizes!

Here's how it works:
  • Come in to the library for a Reading Bingo Card, or print one online!
  • Read books based on the bingo card suggestions and try the listed activities.
  • Mark off the squares as you go.
  • Keep reading and have fun! For every 4 squares you complete, you'll earn a prize! If you complete 8 squares, or half the card, you'll be entered into our prize raffle!
Pretty simple, huh? It all kicks off this Saturday, December 14th with our Family Storytime Winter Special.

Contact Youth Services for more information at (607) 272-4557 extension 275, or just stop in for a visit!

Psst... here's a photo of our Winter Reading table! Stop in and check it out!
