Ollie and Claire by Tiffany Strelitz Haber, illustrated by Matthew Cordell

Max the Meerkat

Ollie and Claire are two best friends, closer than close can be. They snack together, swim together and sing together. What could be better? Day-in, day-out, it’s the same happy story.  Alas, soon Claire yearns to expand her horizons. She’s ready to mix it up, try new things! One day, she spots a sign on a tree: “Travel Friend Wanted for Round-the-World Journey!” Claire is enticed. Immediately she starts day dreaming about the adventures she’ll have: to the mountain! To the moon! But how will she ever tell Ollie? And who is this mysterious travel partner? Read the story to find out! I loved this sweet and funny book full of friendship and adventure.  The illustrations by Matthew Cordell (one of my favorite artists!) are the icing on the cake!

Foxy! by Jessica Souhami

Gregor the Giraffe

Jessica Souhami is back with a great new read-aloud story: Foxy!  Foxy sets out to travel the countryside with only a bee in a sack. “Will you look after my sack?” he asks each unsuspecting person. He offers just one condition: “Whatever you do, DON’T LOOK IN THE SACK!” But who could resist the teensiest peep?  Just like that, out goes the bee! Naturally Foxy will accept a fine rooster as payment for his lost bee… and then a pig for the rooster, and then even a young boy for the pig! Will the devilish fox outwit them all? Will someone step in to stop old Foxy? Read this book to find out!

Clear, colorful illustrations compliment this action-packed story. A great addition to storytime!
